During Field trips to the Senate House State Historic site, this 18th Century Medicine lesson will be led by a staff educator. Students will explore the contents of a “colonial medical chest” and learn some of the ways that 18th century understanding of the body and medical treatment were quite different from today. Students will help the staff presenter diagnose and treat various ailments and injuries, and employ their senses of sight, hearing, touch, and smell to experience remedies and medical instruments of the past.
